About PA Partners:
Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PA Partners) is a regranting program of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts (PCA) and administered in Allegheny County by the Arts Council. Its goal is to make arts programs available to every Commonwealth resident, with a focus on previously underserved communities and regions in Pennsylvania. PA Partners provides grants of up to $3,000 for arts projects that take place in Allegheny County. All projects must be publicized and open to the general public, and must take place between September 1, 2008 and August 31, 2009. The application postmark deadline is June 30, 2008.

The PCA's goals for PA Partners are to:

  • Expand access to the arts by (a) making programs available to communities that may have been underserved in the past by state arts funding, and (b) supporting a wide variety of arts activities in the community that have been developed in a variety of local settings
  • Encourage local decision-making in regranting of state arts dollars
  • Increase awareness of and advocacy for government support and funding of the arts at the local and state levels
  • Enable the PCA to provide increased assistance to its broad constituency throughout the state

Eligible applicants include:

  • Nonprofit arts organizations that have nonprofit 501(c)(3) status from the Internal Revenue Service
  • Emerging arts organizations, including those that have applied for but have not yet received 501(c)(3) status
  • Community-based organizations, entities of local government and churches/faith-based organizations that present arts activities to promote artistic enrichment and appreciation for Allegheny County residents
  • Individual artists or consortia of artists who present arts activities for the purpose of promoting artistic enrichment and appreciation to residents of Allegheny County communities

NEW-Activities Eligible for Funding:

PPA Project Stream applicants are eligible to receive support for activities in these two
categories:

>
Arts projects not conducted with or in venues owned and/or operated by organizations or
programs the PCA already supports through the PPA Program Stream, Arts Organizations &
Arts Programs (AOAP) Track, or the Entry Track.

>
Arts projects conducted with or in venues owned and/or operated by organizations or programs the PCA already supports through the PPA Program Stream, AOAP Track or the Entry Track. Previously these types of projects were ineligible for support. There are a limited amount of funds available for these type of projects.

Statewide, at least 75% of the PPA Project Stream funds will support projects not conducted with or in PCA supported organizations or programs. 25% of the funds will support projects that are conducted with or in PCA supported organizations or programs. The level of competition for funding in the two project categories will vary among PPA service regions.

A list of arts organizations and programs the PCA already supports through PPA Program Stream, AOAP, or Entry Track can be downloaded (above: PCA-Supported Organizations and Programs). Use this list as a reference in determining whether your project is conducted with or in a PCA supported arts organization or program.

Project must: be an arts activity conducted for the benefit of the public (for profit
organizations are ineligible); take place in the PPA Partner's service region and have a
public component.

The applicant, if an individual, must be at least eighteen years old.

PA Partners Project Stream applicants may not apply to the following grant programs for the same grant period: PPA Program Stream, PCA AOAP Track; or PCA Entry Track.

PA Partners Project Stream applicants may apply to the following PCA grant programs during the same grant period: Arts in Education Residencies; Accessibility to the Arts in PA for Individuals with Disabilities; Individual Creative Artists; Local Government; Preserving Diverse Cultures; and Professional Development and Consulting.
